Power of Affirmations
An affirmation is a statement that you make to yourself. Everyone uses them intentionally or unintentionally. You wake up in the morning, jump out of bed and exclaim "I feel great". That is a positive affirmation. The alternative is to drag yourself out of bed in the morning and complain "I feel rotten". That is a negative affirmation. Both statement help to maintain the emotional state you are in.
Our self-talk, the words we say to ourselves, is very important as it directly affects our conscious and unconscious minds. We listen to everything we say to our self.
Because our affirmations work so well to maintain the state of mind we are in, we can use them to change that state of mind. Of course it takes practice to change how we think and feel, but, if you follow these guidelines, the use of affirmations can become a strong, useful tool for helping yourself become happier and healthier.
Basic guidelines for developing good Affirmations
All affirmations should be stated in the present tense. Start with words such as "I am..." or "I have... ", or I deserve...". You want to be telling your mind that it is taking place right now.
Affirmations should always be written with the end goal in mind. Such as "I am dating the perfect man of my dreams" rather than "I will meet the perfect man of my dreams".
Affirmations are to always to be stated in the positive. "I feel confident." not "I don't feel anxious". The Universe does not recognise a negative "don't" and so it will picked up on the "feeling anxious" part of the statement. All that will do is invite more anxiousness into your life.
Write your affirmation in a way that feels good to you so that you can say it easily and effortlessly. Use words that make sense to you and that you speak on a daily basis.

The Magic of MEDITATION
The demands of modern life, mean that many of us feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and lack of energy can make us feel tired, impatient and frustrated. This feeling will often cause tension in our body which can eventually affect our health.
We are often so busy that we forget to find time for ourselves often as we are living in an automated sense of purpose. We believe we have no time for meditation.
But meditation actually gives you more time by allowing your mind to escape the frenzy of thoughts, to becoming calmer and more focused. A simple ten or fifteen minute breathing meditation as explained below can help you to overcome your stress and connect with inner peace and balance.
Meditation can also help us to understand our own mind. We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. This is a profound practice you can adopt on a regular basis and even enjoy throughout the day, not just while seated in meditation.
The benefits of meditation are many, and can bring about feelings of confidence and self control, increased concentration, better relationships and reduced stress levels to name just a few.
Once you have found your own inner stillness, through regular meditation, you will be able to access it again and again and with ever greater ease. This brings with it many far-reaching and profound benefits. You will start to notice some changes within yourself fairly quickly; others will take more time. If you are so inclined, it is worth keeping a diary, so that, after some experience of meditating you can look back on how you have changed.
Regular practitioners say they develop a feeling of greater emotional equilibrium. In psychoanalytic terms, they involve their egos less in everyday situations. According to Buddhists, one of the results of meditation should be a feeling of compassion – much easier when your ego is dissolved. Self control, in turn, increases self confidence and a person’s sense of certainty. Simply put, this means meditation could make you ‘nicer’ to your fellow beings.
Meditation does not mean ‘zoning out’. In fact, regular practice will make your mind much sharper and quicker. The ability to concentrate is hugely enhanced, so that tasks take less time and feel easier to accomplish. When you decide to do something, you will be able to just do it, instead of wasting time agonizing about it.
Benefits of Meditation
I trust that you learn to enjoy the inner peace that comes from meditation. This is where you will begin your journey into a new level of relaxation and awareness. Meditation can serve a specific purpose, depending on what you want to achieve. Here are some hints to get you started.
